The Lebanese INSEAD Alumni Association was founded in 1984 by Roy Badaro, Armand Phares, Nabil Kettaneh and Roger Dib. The association operated at first under difficult circumstances with war raging on in the country. It succeeded in making its voice heard over the years, making the Lebanese association influential at home and lobbying successfully for more decentralization at the INSEAD Alumni Association level.
The association contributed to the set up of the RDCL (Rassemblement des Dirigeants et Des Chefs d'Entreprises Libanais), a major lobby group on the Lebanese economic landscape made up of company senior managers.
The current Mission of the INSEAD ALUMNI ASSOCIATION OF LEBANON (IAAL) is the following:
Create an extensive and effective business network of value to all members
The IAAL devotes its best efforts to organize monthly meetings with members, thus encouraging the development of the network. IAAL is also putting at the disposal of its members a website including valuable business and networking information. In addition, the IAAL aims to send a quarterly newsletter including regional events and general information about member's business activities, promotions and whereabouts. Also a printed copy of the 'Address Book' of the Lebanese alumni community in the world is planned to be distributed to interested parties
Promote a better corporate environment and business ethics
The IAAL organizes conferences and debates to expose its members on issues important to the economic development of Lebanon & the Middle East.
Raise the level of education of the future business community
The IAAL plans to provide a scholarship to one deserving Lebanese student per year to attend INSEAD.
Raise the profile of INSEAD among the business and academic communities of the Middle East
The IAAL aims to build stronger relationships regionally with corporate companies and headhunters, distributing once a year printed brochures to all members of the association and leading market agents
Create greater awareness and understanding of Lebanon within INSEAD and the IAA to the benefit of both the region and the INSEAD community
Through our, activities and reach, we aim to place Lebanon back as a center for research, regaining our role of business hub for the region.
